The solution is interesting for companies, who can offer their parking space on the weekend to the public but for private individuals as well who own a parking space but do not use it permanently. Both can generate additional revenue by offering their temporaliy free parking space to the public.

Cerebri offers high-quality, telemedical, cloud-based and AI-supported EEG examinations. In cooperation with German manufacturers of EEG devices, Cerebri provides a user-friendly, compact EEG device that can be used by anyone within minutes without prior training. This combination makes EEG examinations possible for anyone, anywhere, regardless of distance. This is particularly important in space, where monitoring brain activity during sleep helps to assess cognitive performance and general health.

MakeMINT develops innovative, modular learning systems and workshops that promote hands-on education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). They also offer custom-designed prototypes and small series productions tailored to client needs, focusing on an interdisciplinary and holistic approach to learning.

RAASD Technology GmbH is developing advanced passive radar surveillance systems that ensure security while complying with privacy regulations and operating under all weather conditions. Using LTE/4G/5G signals, the technology is resistant to signal jamming and can be deployed for monitoring airports, government-restricted areas, and large private properties, with an initial focus on the German market before expanding across Europe. The company aims for significant revenue growth, supported by partnerships, investor funding, and government financing to develop prototypes and secure intellectual property.

The startup founded by Sebastian Klaus is part of the ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg since 20th October 2021. The vision is to offer 24/7 space access at minimum cost and maximum environmental protection. The team develops a parachute which makes it possible for launch provider to reuse their rockets by bringing the rocket stages in a safety way back to earth. This system is enabled by an easy to use plug & play system. For the futur the startup plan to offer the service of a complete package of cargo transport into and from space.

Currently space propulsion systems offer either low cost or a high reliability. With ISPTech solutions - based on literally thousands of hot firing tests at DLR's facilities - the copamy can serve both worlds: offering low costs with high performance and high reliability. The two technologies are suitable for all spacecraft sizes and classes - ranging from cubesats to large satellites, capsules or landers.

The startup ConstellR has been part of ESA BIC at the site in Friedrichshafen, Baden-Württemberg. The company visualizes high-resolution temperature data based on existing satellite images and computer simulations. Remote sensing data in thermal infrared (TIR) makes an important contribution to agricultural information management. The estimation of evapotranspiration, which is possible by TIR observations, describes the loss of water to the atmosphere. It is composed of evaporation, which indicates the moisture content of the upper soil layers, and the transpiration of plants, which is closely related to the water content in the deeper root layer.

At the tender evaluation board on 12 November 2019, the start-up yuri GmbH was admitted to the ESA BIC in Reutlingen. Christian Bruderrek’s team offers a service for upcoming space missions where microgravity is a complicated factor. The yuri solution makes it easier for companies to plan and execute their space missions more cost-effectively, faster and more efficiently.

FarmBlick is part of the ESA BIC in Baden-Württemberg since 11th January 2023. The team develops a community app for farmers that provides services, advice and software solutions, including the implementation of machine-guided sensors that measure soil moisture and take geo-referenced soil samples to obtain a highly accurate nutrient composition in the soil. This data is visulized and further processed in the community app so that not only predictions but also specific advice on the individual situation can be given. Another service is the biomass calculation of arable land based on data from the Sentinel II satellites.

The startup from Dr. Andreas Frölich is part of the ESA BIC at the site in Reutlingen since 15th December 2021. They enable precise engineering and high-mix / low volume manufacturing of challenging parts on the microscale using the design freedom of additive manufacturing.

The startup MetShape has been part of the ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg since January 23, 2023. Founder Dr. Andreas Baum is engaged in lithography-based additive manufacturing, by means of which small- and micro-scale metal components are also possible in series production. This is very interesting for the aerospace industry, among others, since conventional binder jetting processes often require costly post-processing and are not useful for series production.

Since 1 September 2022, the Startup Covadonga GmbH from Baden-Baden is part of the ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg, at the site in Reutlingen. The startup deals with ship navigation, which is often disrupted by light pollution, energy conservation and resulting reduction of guidance systems, as well as spoofing or jamming attacks. By using sensors on the coasts, which are coupled with the ship's radar, a precise and robust maritime navigation is created.

Helios Avionics aims to provide all private pilots with a simple, safe, and fun flying experience by providing an affordable, intuitive, and fully functional glass cockpit, which is based on a variety of sensors. The glascockpit is based on data of four sensors, including GNSS, accelerometer, magnetometer, and gyroscope. By fusing this sensor data, the common features and visualizations can be used directly on own tablet or smartphone.

Since the 19th January 2022, Kite Dynamics AG (ex Oceanergy AG) is part of the ESA BIC at the site in Reutlingen. The startup is amachine manufacturer from Stuttgart, Germany, with the mission todevelop kite propulsion systems for energy production ships. Theseships use high altitude kite technology for propulsion andgeneration of baseload-capable green electricity from wind poweron the open ocean, including further processing to hydrogen andits storage. Kite Dynamics technology portfolio includesproprietary developments such as the kite propulsion system, as well as the launch and landing system and high-performance kites.

The startup SamDimension UG is part of the ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg since 23rd November 2021. The team around Dr. Robin Mink offers a drone camera system for early-growth-stage weed mapping and an AI-weed scouting tool - a Tailormade Weeding Technology (TWEET). With targeted weeding control mechanisms, it is possible to selectively control certain weed (populations) whereby crops are left uncontaminated and the actual amount of herbicides released into the environment is minimized.

The start-up Heliopas.ai was selected for Incubation on March 18, 2020. Ingmar Wolff’s team analyses the soil moisture of agricultural land using Sentinel 1 and 2 satellite data. Their high-precision analysis reaches up to a resolution of 10m. This enables them to make predictions about the state of the arable land and the plants growing on it, and what measures need to be taken. After 1 1/2 years, they have now successfully completed the program.

Since 11th January 2023 Ventus Technologies is part of the ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg. The team around Dr. Rafael Abel and Dr. Andreas Waldmann is working on high-resolution wind forecasts on roads. In the future, these are to be used for route planning with charging stops in electric mobility. This is already an important topic in the rapidly growing market for battery electric vehicles. Such vehicles are becoming increasingly networked and record data on traffic conditions and the availability of charging stations to improve their planning strategy.

The startup Arrive Mobility around the two founders Roland Philippi and Lars Dietrich are developing a mobility platform on which all available mobility options are combined at a glance. With this holistic approach, the user has the opportunity to quickly and efficiently view various solutions such as trains, buses, bicycles and car sharing services along their route and to book them directly. Satellite data and weather data are used to display the positioning of mobility options, to implement routing and to receive recommendations based on the weather.

The company vreed from the two founders Thomas Wolter-Roessler and Jan Witkovsky was accepted in the last selection round and has been part of the ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg since May 11, 2022. The Stuttgart-based company uses lidar technology to create digital twins of buildings and infrastructure and, in the future, of entire cities.

limknow develops a Vibrocorer take sediment samples in all types of fresh water bodies covering also hard sediments better and cheaper compared to existing solutions. This would provide information to make the operation of individual gravel pits more sustainable by enabling longer use without expansion,
following the principle of "depth before area". A longer period of use and more efficient dredging of existing excavated lakes has several important positive effects. Socio-economically, this can relax or improve the regional situation in the supply of primary mineral raw materials (sand, gravel, concrete).
For reservoir operators, the addressed Vibrocoring device would generate valuable and unique information to improve the sediment management efforts, which urgently need to be implemented.

Dr. Wolfgang Herbst, co-founder of vaireco, briefly presented his company project at the ESA BIC Auftakt. Heat losses in large buildings or faults in photovoltaic systems will be recorded much more efficiently in the future. Supported by Airbus Defence and Space from ESA BIC in Friedrichshafen / Immenstaad will develop the start-up vaireco an innovative inspection system for this purpose. The company relies on a new generation of thermal imaging cameras and drone technology as well as pinpoint localization via satellite navigation. “In addition to a significant reduction in the inspection effort, this also enables large-scale analyses that were previously unthinkable”, says company founder Dr. Wolfgang Herbst. Angela Warnecke, co-founder of ARtist UG (limited liability), was selected to join the ESA BIC at the second tender evaluation board on 14 June 2018. At the Reutlingen location, the three founders of the newly developed company are now developing a smart tool for creating virtual art. Artists can now digitally create Augmented Reality (AR) works of art and place them in public space. The artworks can be discovered and expanded by the community. Source: Weber

The company AR Experts GmbH was also successfully incorporated on 18 March 2020. The start-up realizes augmented reality solutions for companies to be able to map processes and work steps on production machines with smart devices. This allows employees to have digital access to the required information about the work process on site and allows them to store company knowledge in a decentralised manner. Employee training and further education measures can also be carried out easily and easily on the smart devices.

The Reutlingen-based company LuxFlux GmbH and the Konstanz-based vaireco GmbH were the first start-ups at ESA BIC’s Reutlingen and Friedrichshafen locations in Baden-Württemberg. No less than a month passed between submission on the reporting date and signing the contract for admission at an ESA BIC location for both inaugurations.

The two LuxFlux Founder Marc Henzler and Dr. Jan Makowski (from left to right), analyse the particulate matter in our cities from space. The Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring System (CAMS) combined with ESA’s Sentinel satellites is used for this purpose. The aim is that the particulate matter exposure can be determined not only at the measuring points on the ground, but at any location. “For Baden-Württemberg in particular, our fine dust map will provide added value. This is the only way to achieve comprehensive coverage”, said Dr. Jan Makowski and Marc Henzler, LuxFlux company founders.

WoodKrew has also been part of ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg since 16 February 2021. Also at the Reutlingen site, the startup is developing an application in the field of forest monitoring to give forest owners precise statements about the nature and condition of their forests. By means of an offshell antenna, the predictions can be made centimetre-accurate, even if there is no reception through the leaf cover.

Some people need help in everyday life. And some people want to help others. The Comii app helps with that. That means: caregivers have less work. People get help faster. Plus, the help costs less.

The Stuttgart-based startup Leagues GmbH led by Markus Kleber is concerned with security in football stadiums. The already existing app for second- and third-division soccer matches is being expanded in incubation to include a comprehensive security concept so that visitor flows can be better managed and crowds can be avoided.

As of 18th July 2022, the startup Mavuno Technologies is part of the ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg. The three brothers offer farmers in Africa a mobile way to manage their fields more effectively. This includes providing crop protection products with a pre-financing offer. Predictions about the condition of the fields and recommendations for precise cultivation are made using satellite data.

At the tender evaluation board on 24 May 2019, the start-up PriLogiX GmbH was admitted to the ESA BIC in Reutlingen. The young company has set itself the task of simplifying the logistics for heavy goods transport. By means of their own software and integrated satellite images, it will be easier for logistics companies to deliver the goods undamaged and in the easiest way to the customer in the future.

The start-upTroodle Mobility Solution GmbH of founder Bernd Sailer has been admitted to the second Tender Evaluation Board at the Reutlingen location. The start-up VCSwipe UG (limited liability) was accepted at the third tender evaluation board on November 8, 2018. VC stands for Venture Capital and already hints at what the two founders Lukas Kmoth and Adrian Pirija are up to. Its mobile financing platform aims to simplify collaboration between investors and startups. They finished their incubation time at the end of 2020.

The start-up Alb Radmanufaktur GmbH has been part of ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg since the end of January 2020. The team around Caroline and Ulrich Füllemann develops a trike that is ergonomic and tilts with the body in the corners and adapts to it. In addition, it has an electric drive and is therefore addressed to all age groups. The use of GNSS offers various additional functions – it serves as safety and theft protection, as an emergency and motivation system and as an energy optimizer for the electric drive to support the cyclist.

The Reutlingen-based start-up Xylene was in the ESA BIC from December 2019 until December 2021. The founders Christopher Edwards and Giuseppe Benenati offer a blockchain solution for companies who obtain their product in critical markets that transparently represents the entire value creation process from logging to processing. The solution is particularly effective for industrial sectors that are potentially in contact with conflict minerals. Xylene’s service makes the fair and sustainable use of materials visible. During the incubation time, they develeoped an MVP for their SaaS.

Since 13th December 2021, the startup led by Professor Zenner, a physician from Tübingen, has been part of the ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg. The team is developing a digital therapeutic training software, called VertiDisan, with which astronauts can train the prevention of the common disease Space Motion Sickness. This space sickness affects the vestibular organs of humans and causes nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, cold sweats and drowsiness.

The Stuttgart-based startup Asvin GmbH has been part of the ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg for 2 years and is alumni now since 25th May 2022. The founders support IoT operators in recording and controlling devices, providing a solution for managing updates and monitoring the cybersecurity status over the entire lifecycle of devices. Confidential Company knowledge can thus be protected against cyber-attacks.

The start-up Blackpin GmbH has been Incubatee at the ESA BIC location in Reutlingen between May 2020 and May 2022. The Aalen-based company is developing an encrypted messenger app with integrated location function, which allows information to be sent in a data-protected manner. The app is primarily intended for the business sector, where the encrypted transmission of information is essential.

The start-up Vioonic from Reutlingen was admitted to the ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg in Reutlingen on 18 March 2020. The young entrepreneur Barry Fogarty is developing an encrypted real-time communication service for the exchange of confidential information, especially in the medical field. The application is also equipped with a location capability, so that it can be tracked when and where the user received and viewed the information

In the selection round on November 12, 2019, the Suttgarter start-up SwarmLogistics GmbH was admitted to the ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg. The company offers logistics companies a technical solution to avoid empty journeys and to make optimal use of the loading area of the trucks. Using algorithms, they connect the vehicle fleets of a company with each other and thus achieve the optimum utilization of their capacities for their customers.

The startup Waldstolz was part of the ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg between July 2021 and September 2022. The two founders Fabian Gärtner and Tobias Jäger were developing a platform to protect local forests from pests. Using satellite data, predictions are made for agriculture as to which trees in the forest are infested and therefore need to be cut down.

The startup boltzplatz was part of the ESA BIC between November 2021 and November 2022. The team offers an innovative service based on computer-aided simulations for SMEs and development and simulation departments of large companies. The service includes the handling of projects starting with the problem definition up to the presentation of concrete recommendations for action. Therefore, they are working with the open-source software PICLas which was developed by them at the University of Stuttgart, with which rarefied plasma flows under the influence of electromagnetic fields can be simulated on the computer. With this solution, many production processes in high-tech industries, especially the thin-film technology and semiconductor manufacturing can be simulated before testing.

The start-up AridGreen Technologies of founder Dr. Avdesh Chaudhary uses artificial light conditions originally developed for space to create optimal conditions for plant growth. Due to special light wavelengths, the plants can also grow in the dark. An AI-based algorithm also shows the user what needs the plant has, e.g. the supply of fertilizer light or irrigation.

The startup medicalvalues from Karlsruhe was part of the ESA BIC in Reutlingen until May 2023. During their incubation time the founders were working on their AI-software for medical diagnosis. The software tool gives doctors the possibility to get support in making diagnosis for patients which includes weather data and habitat conditions by introducing and analysing satellite data.

The startup Sentrisense GmbH around founder Sebastian Cerone was part of the ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg at the Reutlingen site until May 2023. The startup developed a small smart device that can be attached to power lines with an eyelet to measure their effectiveness and condition as well as to locate possible damage caused by storms or fires. Sensors for gas measurement are integrated as well.

schnaiTEC GmbH manufactures innovative research instruments that keeps you at the forefront of science. Our instruments include a multi-wavelength photoacoustic aerosol absorption spectrometer and an airborne cloud particle imaging probe combined with a single particle polar nephelometer.

dARwing makes it possible to create three-dimensional drawings in an augmented reality space, the so called AR-Space (AR-Space = real world + AR objects) that can be viewed using AR hardware, such as AR enabled tablets, smartphones and AR-glasses. The digital art-works are fixed at the location and in direction (permanently) of its creation utilizing accurate GNSS technology. Having mapped such art-works across the globe every individual can consume the creation simply by using her/his smart device.

LaterationXYZ is a young and forward-thinking company that has already set new standards in the field of localization. Collaborating with cross-industry global players, LaterationXYZ stays at the forefront of innovation, continuously breaking existing technological barriers, and redefining the state of the art. Their cross-market applications are of exceptional significance, ready to revolutionize the way the world navigates and automates.

The startup DeepCare GmbH from Stuttgart has been part of the ESA BIC Baden-Württemberg since February 5, 2021. At the Reutlingen site, the company led by Dr. Milad Geravand and Simon Fiechtner is developing a digital health assistant that ensures that the user is in the right sitting position and moves regularly in the office or home office. Using a lidar sensor, the upper body of the user is displayed on a small screen and the 3D depth information is analyzed using artificial intelligence to derive optimal recommendations for action.

Since 15 February 2021, Black Engine Aerospace has also been part of ESA BIC in Baden-Württemberg. The company around the two founders Markus Ortelt and Oliver Durst dive deep into space development – with the development of a new rocket propulsion using ceramic composites, they make rocket engines cheaper, safer and more fatigue-resistant. They also focus on sustainability, because the engines should be reusable.

The startup Tools4Vision presented their idea successfully at the Tender Evaluation Board on the 14th September 2021. The team around Peter Fausel develops a software for divers, called "Divery", which makes the whole diving process easier and more efficient. Onboarding in diving schools, booking and planning trips as well as cashless paying is possible with this new application. Additonally, the app gives information about weather forecast which is important for divers when planning a dive trip. These informations came from the "Copernicus Marine Service" and can be interpreted from divers when planning to see specific fishes or reefs which are only visible in certain weather conditions.
