A new sensor for your security

At the awards ceremony last Wednesday in Stuttgart's TV tower, the winners of the Galileo Masters Baden-Württemberg Challenge 2019 were honored. First place goes to the Freiburg-based start-up Tocsen, which has developed a chip with an integrated sensor that detects a fall with a bicycle and sends an emergency signal to rescue forces, sports buddies or acquaintances.

Second place goes to the University of Karlsruhe project with a GNSS-based object georeferencer that uses low-cost sensors built into the cell phone to make very precise, non-contact positioning measurements of less than 20 cm at a distance of several meters.

Third place is shared by the Stuttgart-based start-up Swarm Logistics, which equips the fleet of logistics companies with an algorithm to optimally determine the disposition of trucks and their routes, and the company Alb Radmanufaktur from Erbstetten, which has developed an e-trike with various GPS functionalities.
