Getting the most out of commercially available sensors was the goal of the NAVKA project. Doctoral students Julia Diekert, Andreas Hoscislawski and Jan Zwiener and scientists Stephan Batke and Axel Lorenz developed a completely new platform for precise real-time navigation, known as NAVKA for "Navigation Algorithms and Platforms Karlsruhe". Together with Professor Reiner Jäger, they have now received the ESNC state prize for this in Heidelberg. Second place went to Sabine Zureikat, a graduate of the German University of Applied Sciences in Jordan, for "Follow me". A team led by 2007 winner Gerhard Bernot and Dr. Gerhard Lörcher from MagicMaps took third place.
The international performance in 2014 is also a nice success: A participant from Baden-Württemberg was accepted into the ESA program and NAVKA was third worldwide out of a total of 434 submissions!
